Cobbler’s Mount
Linking inside and outside living
Connecting the house with the garden was at the heart of the clients’ brief for Cobbler’s Mount. A historic and poorly constructed annex extension shoe-horned in between the house and the garden kept the young and active family from making the most of their lovely garden. The current kitchen was in the centre of the house with no connection to the living areas or the garden.
The proposed architectural design involved the demolition of the annex and replaced with an extension built to the latest building regulations. The kitchen was moved into the new extension along with a utility and pantry.
New kitchen extension connecting house and garden
The vaulted ceiling construction over the kitchen mimics the roof profile of the original cottage. A large, glazed gable end now connects the house directly with the garden at one end whilst the kitchen is internally directly linked to the living spaces.
The existing kitchen made way for a cloak room and large boot room, ideal for muddy boots and paws!
Cobbler’s Mount has received planning approval in 2020 and work has started on site.
